“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” (Genesis 2:18 KJV)
“…not good…”? Of all the intricacies that went into making man. Living cells, the breath of life, conscious thought, the ability to consume a wide range of foods and the foods actually be sustenance for him, and so much more. Yet, being formed in the image of God, there was yet a whole other dimension that man needed. Someone else. A helper. Someone to be one with. Someone outside of himself that had similar capabilities as he did that could be loved. When God created us, he wanted more than really complex creatures. He wanted that attribute that went above the creature itself. That attribute that could love. More than desire. To actually be patient with; as his timing and her timing may be off on many things. To be at peace with because those things which might cause conflict had either been overcome or surrendered before God. To have a kindness that goes deeper than the apathy of niceness. To have a nakedness where boasting is not necessary. What is on the heart and mind is plain and open.
In all the goodness that God creates, he pauses to look and see what is missing. To search out a matter and bring it to completion lacking nothing. It is interesting to me to see that when sin came, it did not come because mankind lacked complexity. It came to pervert and steal that relationship between the two creatures and between the creatures and God. It made me first instead of the other first. Truely, in the moment that they ate of that fruit, “they” died. “They” were now individuals.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13 KJV)
