Esther

“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14 KJV)

Do you know that in the book of Esther, that Esther isn’t even mentioned in three different chapters? That’s right, chapters 1, 3, and 10. Which is impressive for such a focused story that only has 10 chapters and the entire book takes place during the life span of all the main characters. It’s a subtle reminder to each of us that even during episodes of our life where we see our name on the front cover, that it’s really not about us. God may give us a great testimony or witness, but it’s a testimony about what He has done. Not who we are. The climactic quote from Esther 4:14 “…for such a time as this” is way more than timing. It’s that deep realization that there is something much bigger than me here and he loves me enough to have a role in his plan.
