“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17, 18 KJV)
Iota. Figuratively a jot or a dot. Not an iota unfulfilled. In English, we learn that a jot is a period. Something that concludes a sentence. The thought or the statement is not yet complete until you see the period. This makes sense in the quote above. It shows the completeness with which all things are to be fulfilled.
Yet, as an IT sys admin, we learn that files that begin with a dot are hidden files. Some are hidden for a reason. Sometimes entire directories are hidden. Sometimes that indicates that it has been marked for deletion. That brings a curious thought to mind. Even the hidden things will be fulfilled. How many things go on around us that are hidden from us just in the daily administration of life that we don’t always see? It could be as simple as those things that your staff has prepared behind the scenes so that your presentation works smoothly. It could be as sinister as all the crime that is fought each night on the streets by law enforcement. It could be what the Lord is working inside you today in preparing you for what he sees you actually need. Yet, not even a hidden thing that he has prepared will go unfulfilled.
“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” (1 Corinthians 4:5, KJV)
