Estimation

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1, KJV)

We read in Matthew 24:24 how even the elect might be deceived. It seems very near the situation that Eve was in at this moment. Is the estimation in the information good enough? We hear something that is even slightly off what we know God’s word to us is, and we are faced with a situation where we have to process; is this information accurate? We live in a world today of AI where calculations are high. The number threshold that our security hides behind seems to vanish as machines and models with much higher numerical thresholds come into place. Yet, is any estimation no matter how high good enough? What a gift that we can know the Word from the infinite!

That’s just it! We can know! Faith is where the journey begins. It grows into hope and then into love. We can actually recognize the elements of love like patience, kindness, goodness, and the rest outlined in 1 Corinthians 13 as distinct and infinitely more real than the world’s attributes of tolerance, niceness, and mere coexistence. Our God is more than law. He offers redemption personally. Even better, He is personal because he is a person, with a name (Jesus) and a presence.

There may be much data that you consider to begin your day, your week, your project, your future, or even a means to deal with your present situation. If you aren’t listening to Jesus and immersing yourself in his word, the estimation of all the data in the world will never be high enough, true enough, or able to save you from your own desires.

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:38, 39)
