“To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.” (Psalms 19:1-2 KJV)
Would the glory of God be any less if the heavens did not declare it? Would the speech and knowledge be any less if no one could perceive it? No! But what a wonder it is when we discover these things! What a wonder that we should be able to share in it. What a wonder that he could put such things in a vicinity that we can perceive them. It’s almost like he put all that is in this chapter within reach of someone that he has made room for. Maybe I should change my answer above. Then again, the wonder of what has been put into place is no less, but the ability to share it with someone in relationship adds a whole new level of wonder.
Now we begin to see why his law is perfect revving the soul (verse 7). We now see more to be desired than fine gold (verse 10). What a way to conclude this chapter! Be acceptable in your sight (verse 14). Not only has he put this on display for us, but he is looking at us! Even more, we in turn have the opportunity to be in relation with others, and he’s watching that relationship too! Fooey on sharing opinions with another. Share him with another! Come to think of it, we are commanded to.
