Little things

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” (Luke 16:10 KJV)

What an incredibly revealing verse! It does not seem to matter how much or how little you have when it comes to measuring our ability to be faithful. You either are or are not. You have to be determined to request God’s assistance right where you are. Notwithstanding, I think there is a little noticed element to this verse too. Think about this for a second… If changing the quantity does not change the faithfulness of Man, where would be a good place to look for the big things that God is doing? I mean if you want to see the hand of God? If you want to see His glory? If you want to see what He is out and about doing? Where is a good place to look? That is right! The little things. The little people. The little places. It is in the common things and everyday activities that He should be most recognizable.

When you learn the sensitivity of His Spirit and His love; His presence becomes overwhelming. Changing a diaper, mowing the lawn, and preparing dinner may not be (nor seem like) God’s handiwork, yet in performing these small tasks it is possible to see the glory of what He has made. What He has provided. What He has designed. And you get the opportunity to reveal your faithfulness or lack thereof in doing what needs to be done. It is no wonder that being about His business right where you are grows both your faith and your ability to recognize what is and is not of Him when you see it and contrast it with His Word.

“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” (1 Peter 1:8 KJV)
