About Spilling Scripture

I came up with the idea of Spilling Scripture as a combination of two things.  First, I was very impressed with the talent of a band that was then up and coming (and has since seen rougher times) called Spilling Poetry.  I first heard them at a battle of the bands type event at the Texas Tech campus soon after I had graduated college.  They had unusually good talent and their lyrics, at least as they sang them, seem to be poetry spilling forth from within them.  The second was a lecture by C.S. Lewis published in his book The Weight of Glory in which he asked the question, “Is Theology Poetry?”  The obvious conclusion was that there is so much more to Christianity than poetry even though there may be many similarities.  The new term Spilling Scripture was then a natural fit to me.
