I wonder how often we feel very much like this where our urgent prayer request seems to be falling on sleeping ears? I mean, guys, have you ever zoned out while your wife is talking to you? It only escalates. 😉 I really wonder the obvious here. Was the expectation that Jesus had of his disciples for them to calm the storm? I mean, he tells them in literal terms that they can move a mountain (Mark 11:23). That’s a hard idea to swallow. We want the job of bringing the requests to him. What if he really did tell us to feed the multitude (Matthew 14:16)? Of course, their response to Jesus calming the storm was a shock that even he could. I’m sure it’s all in the growth of a mustard seed. He may really expect giant trees out of us in time! Of course, it takes a keen ear listening to His Spirit to know what the greater thing is that needs to be done.
