Unseen Feet

“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” (Isaiah 52:7 KJV)

You know that in network technology fiber optics has all but replaced the use of Ethernet cables? All those miles strung through all those data centers and they’ve been recabled. The switch is because so much more data can be sent through a fiber optic cable and the signal can go so much further. Miles further! The light is able to travel down these cables because it does so at a critical angle. An angle such that the light goes down the cable rather than going outside the cable.

Light angles are interesting in our bathroom mirror too. We use that mirror to make sure our hair looks okay, our tie is straight, and there’s not something obvious that we should be aware of before going out. Yet, we cannot see our feet. We have to step over to the closet mirror that is full length to see them. Or do we? The vanity lights near our main mirror can illuminate our feet, but there is something in the way. The counter which holds all our stuff and our sink. If we could get that out of the way, we could see our feet. How true is it in our lives that we build large counters for our stuff that block the angle to the very feet that carry us out the door? And it’s the “…feet of him that bringeth good tidings…” that are noticed. Be careful of what gets in the way of seeing the one thing that the Lord may be using this morning.

“Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.” (Nahum 1:15 KJV)
