Sight

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:5 KJV)

In the day… In the heat of the hottest of portion of a time allocation.  Ye eat thereof… You consume, devour, or eat all of it up.  Your eyes shall be opened… You will observe as from a new perspective.  As gods knowing good and evil… Supremacy in ascertaining with a more real recognition of good and evil.

Is it not amazing how dripping with deceit such a statement on the part of the deceiver can be and still yet be so attractive? The ultimate of manageability! Yet, it is so laced with a promise of the surety of death. “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17 KJV) Not so much before the sun sets in that time period of which you have eaten, although that may be true also and we are encouraged to resolve our anger before the sun sets (see Ephesis 4:26), but it is in the very heat and passion of the desire with which you devour that fruit that there is the very essence of what separates you from God. That is the core of what makes real truth, real life, real love, real peace, and anything close to ever lasting; so distant. It is no wonder that the psalmist understood very clearly that the entire day belongs to the praise and clarity of God. Something that can only be accomplished via complete surrender to Him. “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.” (Psalms 113:3 KJV)

Understand that it is not wrong for your eyes to be opened as Jesus reveals much. “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.” (Isaiah 35:5 KJV) “At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” (Matthew 11:25-27 KJV) The challenge is that it cannot be you that opens your eyes. There is no point in attempting to create a self generating flash light.  His light is in perfect position.  It’s piercing radiance is able to reveal all things.  Those who try to generate their own light are not only not successful, but do not understand that they have failed.  Notice that the Pharisees asked the blind man how he had received his sight and yet they were not able to see his answer.

“He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.” (John 9:15 KJV)
